Growth Through Quality

Proven Results Driven by Quality

  • 25,000+ Applications in 18 years –
  • 1,000+ Clients Represented –
  • 37% Growth in 4 years –

Over the past 18 years, Takaoka IP has earned a reputation for providing high-quality intellectual property legal services in Japan. Takaoka IP has rapidly grown into one of the leading IP law firms in Tokyo.

The increase in cases demonstrates the recognition of our quality by our clients. Our firm operates across multiple groups in a flexible and dynamic manner. For instance, our prosecution group brings know-how of drafting patent specifications to the translation group. Our firm fosters an atmosphere of close cooperation and teamwork between groups and attorneys, which brings successful results to our clients in a cost-effective way. In addition to handling over 25,000 applications and representing more than 1,000 clients over the past 18 years, Takaoka IP has achieved a remarkable 37% growth in the last 4 years alone.

Quality Management Across All Services

For instance, patent work at Takaoka IP encompasses four main categories: drafting patent specifications, preparing patent translations, responding to office actions issued by the patent office, and managing deadlines and formalities. Drafting patent specifications may involve partners themselves or, when handled by associates or patent engineers, undergo review by partners with expertise in the client’s technology, technical specialists, or Ph.D. experts. Partners and associates engage in active discussions as needed.

In the area of trademarks and designs, our work primarily involves preparing application documents and responding to office actions issued by the patent office. Because Japan has strict formal requirements in these procedures, our experienced partners and associates—well-versed in trademark and design law—handle each case with great care, often in collaboration with legal specialists. This ensures compliance with legal and procedural standards while maintaining a high success rate in registrations.

Systems and Collaboration That Ensure Quality

All cases are meticulously managed by our administrative group using software to track progress and ensure completion within deadlines. Additionally, an independent monitoring group oversees deadlines, providing a double-check alongside the administrative group.

Similarly, patent translations undergo a thorough process. A coordinator is initially assigned to manage the overall schedule and assign translators and proofreaders. Translations are checked by proofreaders to verify accuracy, and deadlines are monitored by both the administrative group and independent monitoring group. Through these meticulous quality checks, including double and triple checks, we uphold high standards of quality across all our services.

At Takaoka IP, we foster an atmosphere of close cooperation and teamwork among our groups and attorneys. This collaborative approach ensures successful outcomes for our clients in a cost-effective manner, further solidifying our reputation as a trusted partner in intellectual property matters.
