Takaoka IP is pleased to organize a free seminar featuring Kenichi Nagasawa, Senior Advisor to Takaoka IP and former Head of Intellectual Property & Legal Headquarters at Canon Inc.
The seminar, entitled “Long-Term Management Strategy and the Role of Intellectual Property Departments – In Light of the Evolution of Generative AI and Geopolitical Risks,” will be held in Tokyo on October 2, 2026.
The seminar will be conducted in Japanese only. However, we particularly recommend it to overseas patent attorneys and other IP professionals who understand Japanese, as well as to firms and companies with Japanese-speaking colleagues or staff.
A Leading Figure in Japanese Intellectual Property
For those involved in IP matters relating to Japan, Mr. Nagasawa will already be a familiar name. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Japan’s IP community.
Mr. Nagasawa joined Canon Inc. in 1981 and held senior IP positions in Europe, the United States and Japan. From 2010 to 2023, he headed Canon’s Intellectual Property & Legal Headquarters while also serving as an executive officer and director of the company.
He has also held numerous leadership and public-policy positions, including President of AIPPI Japan, President of LES Japan, Vice Chairperson of the Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA), and membership on Japanese government committees relating to intellectual property and economic security.
For overseas IP professionals, the seminar may also provide a valuable opportunity to meet Mr. Nagasawa and become acquainted with his perspectives on Japanese IP strategy.
