We are pleased to announce the summary of Takaoka IP’s performance for 2024. As one of Japan’s leading intellectual property law firms, Takaoka IP has firmly established itself as a trusted partner for both domestic and international clients.
In 2024, Takaoka IP filed 2,323 patent applications across Japan and overseas, and received 1,880 office actions from patent offices globally, including the Japan Patent Office. These figures reflect the extensive scope of our services and the global reach of our clientele.
Over the past four years, the workload related to patent matters at Takaoka IP has increased by 137%, showcasing not only the innovative landscape in which we operate but also the confidence our clients place in us. This remarkable growth underscores our ability to adapt to increasing demands and deliver excellence.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to meeting and exceeding our clients’ expectations in 2025 and beyond.
Notes:
- It is noteworthy that this total includes patent applications filed at the JPO, PCT applications, and foreign patent applications, reflecting the diverse scope of our services and the global reach of our clientele. This increase underscores both the trust our clients place in us and the innovative landscape we operate within.
- It is important to clarify that the number of office actions includes only substantial rejections based on novelty or inventive step and does not include requests for examination, notifications of granting patents, or renewal of patents.
- Furthermore, in addition to patents, Takaoka IP also handles trademarks, designs, and utility models. However, the figures presented here do not include the number of trademarks and designs processed, focusing solely on patents and office actions. The reason we focused on the number of patent applications and office actions to understand workload is that they are tasks that patent attorneys substantively review. We believed this would provide a good approximation of overall workload.
